Desiree Morriseau-Shields, spirit name Gizhibaa-ashe-goon Kwe, is a band member and elected councillor of Fort William First Nation, ON. By trade, Desiree is a registered Dental Hygienist with over 13 years of experience working in public health as a Children’s Oral Health Initiative provider for FWFN and currently as the Northern Regional Dental Hygienist for the FNIHB-Ontario Region. She is also an entrepreneur, operating her family-owned business located in Fort William First Nation. 

From 2019-current, Desiree has served as a councillor for FWFN with goals of advancement in local economy; health, wellness and safety, historical preservation , and personal development. Committee’s she assists in are the Wellness Strategy Committee, the St Josephs Indian Residential School Survivors Committee and the WTRCAT Waterfront Trail Committee.
