Jeff Mundy

Director

Jeffrey Mundy is a retired professional forester, having been employed over the years by many Northwestern Ontario forestry companies, including Buchanan Forest Products and recently Resolute Forest Products.

Thunder Bay first became his home in 1981 when he arrived from Ottawa to attend Lakehead University’s Forest Technician diploma program. Enjoying working in the forests across northern Ontario, he returned to Lakehead to obtain his Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree in 1988.

Jeff has had a lifelong interest in all types of history, including local, national, and international. Since retirement, he has taken advantage of all the resources available at the museum and other institutions in the city to learn about the development of the forest industry in Northwestern Ontario since the late 1800s.

He has enjoyed volunteering for the Thunder Bay Museum since 2021, assisting with activities such as bingo, cruise ship tours, and writing articles for the museum’s “Looking Back” column in the Chronicle-Journal. Jeff also takes great pleasure in working in the Museum’s library and archives when assisting with accessioning, research, and exhibits. In particular, he has helped secure essential donations for the collection, with a focus on records and artifacts from forestry companies that have operated in this area over the past 80 years.
